This is NOT a required class for any O.W.L. or N.E.W.T., but it is optional.
Basically, this is a Fencing class. Back in ancient times, the sword was an ally to the Wand in those days, proving to be an effective tool against the creatures that pervaded the lands. You will not be expected to carry a sword through London, Hogsmeade, or anywhere else in civilization, but if you ever want to do any fieldwork for Aurors, or even in the world somewhere where you need a bladed weapon to defend yourself against beings and creatures where your wand will prove ineffective, useless, and your most fatal flaw.
No textbooks, quills, or anything will be required for this class. Just your attention, and no horseplay.
