Mikayla had only been at Hogwarts for maybe two weeks tops and already her reputation had already followed her here. Was it her fault the guy she had been chatting up and blatantly flirting with had a girlfriend? Was it her fault that said guy failed to mention that to her until the girlfriend saw them kissing a little while later? Was it her fault that this same scenario, with tiny variations, seemed to happen 4 times in 2 weeks? Mikayla certainly didn’t think so, and blamed the guys each time, while also wondering while every guy she talked to at this school seemed to not be single…at least not when their girlfriends were around. Which is why she had given up on trying to find a guy and would just let one come to her when the time was right. And the best way to do this? Why, go sunbathing in the middle of the courtyard of course. It didn’t take long for her to get ready, just throwing on a cute [blue] outfit [/blue] that would help her soak up enough sunrays, while also still being school appropriate (because breaking dress code was stupid to get in trouble for). She sauntered outside, smiling sweetly at a couple of the guys that were ogling her as she walked by and giggling inside when one of them got smacked by the girl they were walking at. [green]Yeah, this is going to be an interesting year…[/green] She thought to herself as she found a bench to lay out on, in direct sunlight, that was the perfect length for her petite body. Mikayla decided to start this session laying on her stomach and letting her back get the sunshine for now; the back of her legs needed some sun right now anyway. Folding her arms and resting her head on them, she watched people walk by behind her large dark sunglasses, smiling inwardly when guys would look and girls would glare. It definitely was fun being her, but she did wonder what it would be like to be in one of those groups that walked by; surrounded by friends, chatting and laughing, instead of out here alone. It would be nice to have friends, or better yet, a guy that cared about her for more than her outward physical appearance. Maybe that would be one of the surprises this new year would hold for her? She had no way to tell, but it was nice to think about.

The next chain of events would seem so unlikely, so... out of whack for anyone to witness, that one would think the powers that be had orchestrated it up to the letter.
Well. We did. But whatever, this is my story, don't judge.
Kite was walking along the outside of the courtyard, book in hand, nose in book, broomstick in other hand, and and of broomstick nailing some idiot in the back of the head when Kite walked past. Disgruntled, the idiot who was hit with the broomstick then pulled out his wand, and made a stone in the floor rise just enough for Kite to trip on.
Now, the fun starts.
As he flailed, his book flew into the air, and he klutzily sprawled forward, thinking fast as he mentally commanded his broom to keep him from hitting the ground. He reached a hand out and caught the book, not missing his page, and let out a "Whoo!!" as he smirked, arousing applause from the surrounding students. Bowing slightly, he closed the book and waved at the audience, before plowing into a Professor that was walking past. This time, the broom flew out of his hands, as well as the book, as he pinwheeled across the path, tripping and sprawling forward onto a bench.
However, there was something alive on this bench, and Kite didn't have to be a rocket scientist to know that this alive thing was female. He had landed on Mikayla, their noses touching, as he suppressed a shy, panicked squeal when he realized what he had done.
He couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. All he could do was wait for the girl to A.) Punch him in the face, B.) Hex him half to death, or C.) knee him in the Pistachios. He bit his lip, and breathed out a "Hi", thanking God, Loki, Odin, and Rainbow dash that he had remembered to brush his teeth this morning. He awaited her reaction.

The sun was so relaxing on Mikayla’s skin that she couldn’t help but stop watching people and close her eyes maybe even dozing off for a few minutes. Although, she woke up after a few overly relaxed minutes so she could turn over and get an even tan. It would just look awkward if she was darker on her backside than her front was.
Looking up at the sky, she watched the clouds go by, looking at interesting cloud shapes. One looked like a rabbit, one looked like a train…it was amusing at most, but it really made her more tired than anything. After a few minutes, her eyelids got heavy and her eyes closed behind her huge dark glasses, not like anyone would notice.
Mikayla was in such a deep sleep that she hardly noticed the commotion that was going on around her. in her dreamless state, she did hear the faint sound of applause, but she didn’t feel like opening her eyes to see if it was actually worth her time to wake up for it. It wasn’t until a human shaped mass landed on top of her that her eyes snapped open. Her instinct was to sit up and push it off, but as she woke up a bit, and took her sunglasses off, she noticed that the human shaped mass was a guy.
She had a few options that she could do, and she was still trying to comprehend this situation at hand as she mulled over the options. She could “A.) Punch him in the face, B.) Hex him half to death, or C.) knee him in the Pistachios” but…for some reason she couldn’t bring herself to do any of those things. For some reason she looked into his eyes and something happened; for the first time in her life, she got butterflies in her stomach and she had no idea why. All she could really do at first was smile and said a quiet [green]…hi…[/green].
This was really awkward for Mikayla and she literally had to shake her head slightly to bring herself back to semi reality…[green]Is there any particular reason you’re on top of me in the middle of the courtyard? I mean, any other place I wouldn’t really mind, but there’s a lot of people out here…[/green] She said with a smirk as the random daze that fell over her before passed. She’d have to look into why that happened when she had the time.

Kite was absolutely stunned. Not only because he had belly flopped on a cute girl and lived, but she was hitting on him. He couldn't think of a reply. Nothing. Nothing at all. He just gaped at her like thet Home Alone kid did to strangers. He was absolutely struck by shock, puppy love, and some that it would be a bad idea to flail about. He slowly moved off of her, and then it finally registered.
"I'm s-so sorry, I, I tripped, and f-fell, and, uhm... you look really nice." he ended his sentence and visibly kicked himself in the back of his knee, mentally berating himself for such a stupid, silly, and absolutely embarrassing position he put himself in. She was probably being nice to him to save face, or for just that, to be nice...
He took a deep breath and muttered "Sorry"
He meant to take a step away, but was glued to the spot.

It was a bit weird, that after she was blatantly hitting on this random guy on top of her, he said nothing. Not a word, a sound, a blink…? Was he breathing? She could feel his chest moving up and down, probably more rapidly than it normally would be, so he wasn’t dead or anything. That was a plus, right. Should she say something to break the awkward silence? She had probably freaked him out by hitting on him, but she had no idea why that would happen…nothing like this had ever happened to her before.
He slowly moved off of her and she sat up as he did, watching to see if he would run away or something. Mikayla felt really bad about, well, she really wasn’t sure why, but she felt bad for it all the same. Finally, words escaped his mouth. Stuttery, very hard to understand words, but words all the same. [green]You don’t have to be sorry. It was an accident and all…and if you hadn’t fallen on top of me, I might not have gotten to meet you…[/green] She took his hand in hers gently, hoping he wouldn’t flinch and jerk it away or something. [green]What’s you’re name anyway? [/green] She asked, looking up at him with a sweet smile. Even though they really hadn’t had any sort of conversation just yet, she was somewhat attached to this shy, adorable guy, and it would make her sad to see him go so soon.

Kite blushed heavily when she took his hand, and bit his lower lip. He had literally fallen into this girl's lap (well, on top of her, actually) and she wasn't upset at all. He took a breath and stuttered back. "M-m-m-my name's K-K-Kite. Mmhm, K-Kite Anders-son." he said with a nervous smile. He really couldn't think of any words to say... he only stood there, holding her hand, feeling his heart flutter like a feather in the wind. He didn't know what to think... nor did he think he would have ever stayed this close to a girl for this long... at least, not since Ruby, the Slytherin he recently rescued from the Gryffindor commonroom. However, that's a different story.
He looked around and realized that people were staring... why? He saw some Slytherin girls gawking at them, and then a couple of Gryffindor Quidditch players who looked as though they weren't sure whether to be shouting "Score!!!" or "WHAT THE HELL, BRO?!"
Then, it dawned on him. She was a Slytherin Girl. He barely recognized her from sorting, and now, she looked both out of his league, and way beyond what he thought he would ever deserve.
"I'm f-f-from Gryff-f-f-findor House... Uhm... S-so..." he felt as though he would faint from the sudden pressure of realizing that this Slytherin girl was ogling at him.
WAT DO?!

Mikayla noticed him blush like crazy when she held his hand and she couldn’t help but smirk. He was so cute an innocent it seemed, that even just simple flirting with him was going to freak him out. She could tell that just but this little encounter that she liked this guy, enough to want to talk to him more. This wasn’t just a physical attraction either which was rather strange, but why should she fight it? [green]Its nice to meet you Kite Anderson…[/green] She said with a sweet smile, shaking the hand she was already holding slightly. [green] I’m Mikayla…Mikayla Menki. I’m actually new here which is probably why you don’t know that already. [/green] She said with a slight smirk. Give a few weeks, everyone would know who she was, or at least know of her…that could be a good or bad thing…either way, it was popularity and that was the best form of entertainment.
She looked around as he did, noticing the people looking at them. Why would they be staring though, was the question on her mind. There were too many eyes on them for it to be just about her…was there some particular reason they shouldn’t be talking? Whatever it was, she wanted to get to the bottom of it. Then her answer came, in a very stuttery way. [green]Um…so what? Suddenly you can’t talk to me anymore because we’re in different houses? Screw house rivalries…I talk to who I want to talk to. [/green] Then suddenly it dawned on her that…maybe he actually didn’t want to talk to her and she was just pushing herself on him. Sometimes, even if it was very rare, people didn’t like to have girls force themselves upon them. [green]Well, of course if you don’t want to talk to me then…you are free to go…I’m not holding you hostage…[/green] She said, looking down at the sunglasses in her hand, letting go of his other hand softly. It was weird, for her to feel like this…very weird indeed.
