Tabby padded down to the Gamekeepers hut, partially dragging a golden unicorn foal on a rope made of acromantula web and unicorn hair. Since she’d rescued the orphaned colt and the headmistress had given her permission to foster him she was going to introduce the colt (whom she’d decided to call Firefly, until such a time as he grew out of that name at least) to the gamekeeper. The colt fought the rope and kept trying to bolt off into the woods. Tabby was having none of that and firmly towed him in the direction she wanted him to go. Until he stopped trying to break for the woods, or until he was old enough to fend for himself in there, she was going to keep him on the incredibly strong, but light and thin rope.
“Hey Tony! C’m out here for a moment would ya?” She hollered at the hut. Tony was usually inside if he wasn’t busy. Plus she wanted to discuss the forest with him anyways. If he wasn’t inside… well, she’d just sit and wait on the front step. It wasn’t like she had much else to do at the immediate moment, bar grading about a dozen and a half essays on Murtlaps that her fifth year students had turned in a while back and she really didn’t feel like grading right now. Firefly squealed and nearly jerked her left arm out of the socket in an attempt to pull away from her, or drag her toward the last place he’d seen his mother. Tabby gave an indignant yelp and wrestled the colt into a sitting position.
“You can stop with the sass little mister! You’re stuck with me until you’re older and bigger, so I suggest getting used to it.” The colt sulked; he’d apparently already picked up something on tones from watching her with her dogs and other pets over the last couple of days. She sighed and checked her ‘pocket clock’ as she called it. It didn’t show times, but rather it would tell her what she was to be doing at any given moment, or what she’d missed doing at a particular time. Right now it scrawled out ‘feed Firefly’ and she sighed.
“Accio bottle.” She flicked her wand just right and soon a pre-prepared bottle of horse milk, built up with goat’s milk and a few potions, landed in her hand. She held it at just the right height and position to mimic where it would have been on a unicorn mare and before she could even say ‘dinner’ the colt had latched onto it and was guzzling the near gallon of milk. Unicorn foals apparently nursed longer than horses, although not much else seemed different from normal. Firefly had already demonstrated that he could drink water, now if only she could get him to eat some of the roughage she’d placed in a makeshift pen for him in her room.

Character: Tabby
Word Count: 490
Plot: Tabby goes to talk about the forest with Tony
Waiting for: Tony
Author Notes: Finished, and yes I did actually look up some of this stuff. To my reckoning Firefly is just shy of four months old, horses start weaning at four months, Firefly is refusing to eat roughage (hay and grasses) so Tabby is going by the guess that he's not really able to yet.
