Detailed Personality: Normally, Shaylyn has what some would call a bubbly personality. She is always happy and her happiness is sometimes contagious. She is very sweet and can make friends with anyone no matter who they are. She believes that there is good in anyone, even if they seem mean on the outside. She is a tremendous flirt, but most of the time she isn’t doing it intentionally; its just how friendly and sweet she is that often times gives guys the wrong idea. A lot of people consider her innocent in many ways, as she has never drank alcohol, done drugs, or had sex and she doesn’t intend to any time soon. She doesn’t see the reasoning behind drinking alcohol or doing drugs and she doesn’t know why people have sex without being in love; it doesn’t make sense to her.
She isn’t the bravest person alive, as she is afraid of a lot of things and she is hesitant to try anything she deems to dangerous or silly. She is however, very smart and has a knack for figuring out riddles and puzzles. She has a terrible memory for names and has a very hard time remembering things that are actually kind of important like important dates, places, and names which makes History of Magic class nearly impossible to her.
Family:
History: Shaylyn Sapphire Menki was born in Barcelona, Spain to Izaiah and Mai Menki. Her mother’s pregnancy was riddled with complications and by the time she was just about due, her mother was practically living in the hospital. Due to unforeseen circumstances, her parents had to make a choice, whether to save Mai or their unborn daughter to which Mai replied “I’ve lived my life. Let her live hers.” Shortly thereafter, Shaylyn was born and Mai had perished. The day she was allowed to leave the hospital, her father moved her and her older brother Ezra out of Spain to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where they had lived until Shay was 17.
Shay lived a relatively happy life in Brazil, just her father, brother and herself. When her brother Ezra turned 11, he got accepted into the Brazilian School of Wizardry and their father decided it was time to start tutoring Shay in the ways of magic (she was 6 at this time). Early on it became evident that she was more skilled in healing magic than she should be at such a young age. Her father taught her simple spells like Episkey and Tergeo and she mastered those easily. Healing spells came more naturally to her than any other type of spells and charms and her father could not be more proud of her.
When she was 11, she got her acceptance to the Brazilian School of Wizardry where she did relatively well in most of her classes. She did however find out that she has a terrible memory, making classes like History where you have to remember various dates and names very difficult for her. She did excel at Charms and Potions and was taking all the right classes to become a Healer when she finished school. When she began her 5th year, she was given the option to being taking classes to become an Animagus and she jumped at the opportunity. Shay was one of the youngest in her class but also one of the most talented. It only took her 4 lessons to successfully turn into her form, which became an adorable spider monkey, although strangely, with a tail that had rings like a raccoon. She did have a bit of trouble coming out of her form that first time but after help from her professor, she never had that problem again.
During the summer after her fifth year, her father one day decided that they were moving to England. He gave them no reason, just that they had to go, now. They packed up their things and moved in the night to their new place. (Her brother was still saying with them for no apparent reason.) She never questioned her father’s reason for them moving, but in the back of her mind she assumed they were running from some type of law enforcement. She transferred to Hogwarts and thought everything was going alright and that everything was going to go back to normal. Just weeks after their move however, her father was arrested and sent to Azkaban for conspiracy to take over the Brazilian Ministry of Magic. She and her brother were shocked at this news as neither of them noticed anything suspicious going on in their father’s life. This new turn of events was something they were going to have to deal with and figure out together, with Ezra becoming head of the household and Shaylyn trying to continue on with her life in a normal fashion.
The rest of her sixth year was not much to report. She kept mostly to herself, only really talking to people when she needed to and not making any friends. Most people thought she was weird or a loner so they avoided talking to her as well. It was a miserable year for her and all she wanted was to be at home with her brother because at least she could talk to him. Once the year was over, she seriously contemplated quitting school and just persuing her career. She had the skills to become a healer already so why did she need more school? Ezra talked her out of it though, telling her that no one was going to hire a sixteen year old Hogwarts dropout and her best bet was just to suck it up and finish her last year; maybe even make some friends as that would make this last year way more enjoyable to endure. So taking his advice, Shaylyn decided to go back to Hogwarts for her seventh year and she was going to make some changes. She was going to be herself, which was not this shy little wallflower she had become. She was going to make friends, possibly find a boyfriend, possibly whatever.
