History: Lindsay Parker was only 15 when she fell head over heels for an adrenaline junkie who was visiting his cousin in her town. She met him at the skate park where he was doing tricks that were nearly fatal. They only spent one night together, but that one night was enough to shame the Parker family. Her parents kicked her out and she ended up in a woman’s shelter, specially set up for people who were in positions similar to hers. When one of the friends she’d made at the shelter went into labor during a massive white-out blizzard it was Lindsay who offered to go and get the doctor, 15 blocks away. Fighting the blizzard on the way there she managed to reach the doctor’s office, only to find it closed due to the late hour and the blizzard.
Resigned she turned and started back ‘home’ only to be brought to her knees by the first pangs of her own labor, 6 weeks early. In pain, with no real rescue in sight she crawled into an alley and worked her way through the pain, giving birth to her first child just as the blizzard started to let up. The second girl came almost two hours later, and feet first. Lindsay could only panic and do her best without any help. She passed out before her second child was born, but luckily a few braver doctors had dragged themselves to the hospital by then. They found her in the alley and took charge quickly.
Later that evening Lindsay awoke to several concerned faces, most of which were from the shelter. The doctors came in and told her what had happened, and offered her children to her. Having no clue which was born first or second, and having been a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas since it came out, she named them Jackie Skellington Parker, and Sally Lacy Parker. Several weeks later she took them to the shelter. At least there she had a bed, food for herself and her babies, and a roof over her head, even if she still dreamt of a white knight to come and save her.
She got her white knight 5 years later, when her former classmate Morris Smith came looking for her. At 21 he had a respectable white-collar job at a bank in the nearest large city and he had come back to look for the woman he’d had a crush on, the woman who had disappeared back in their freshman year of high school. Lindsay was surprised, but she couldn’t say no, especially when he treated the two young girls as if they were his own. The two were married in the spring, and the girl’s names were changed 5 months later. Jackie and Sally loved their step-father, and they loved having a house, and their own rooms.
When the girls were 7 years old their mother was surprised to find her older sister and her older sister’s family on their porch, asking for help. According to the story they told, they’d fallen for a stock exchange scam that had left them with almost nothing, and since they had an 9 year old boy they were forced to ask for money and a place to stay from the ‘lowest person in the family’. Lindsay and Morris might not have liked it, but they were not about to turn away those in need. So the Jerber family moved in with them. Young Angus caused trouble wherever he went and he and his parents were quick to blame the girls. If China was broken while he practiced his football they said they girls stole the ball and framed him, a neighbor complained that someone had poured pudding mix into their above ground pool; Jackie and Sally did it! A dead dog found on the porch; Jackie and Sally were practicing witchcraft! Angus could do no wrong. Jackie and Sally never bothered to deny the accusations; they knew their parents didn’t think they did it.
Then when the girls got their Hogwarts letters it escalated. Nancy and Bob were positive that the girls were truly the spawns of Satan and that they would both curse them and their ‘precious little angel’. Angus was just mad because now they were special and he was ordinary, so he invited them to play a game of soldier. Jackie was proficient at the game, being able to make a fort, climb a tree and hold her own when they clashed, but Sally wasn’t as good. During the game Angus convinced Jackie that he was going to be over by the neighbor’s fence, but instead he stalked Sally over by the little creek behind the house. He knocked her over and began to beat on her with his ‘gun’ until she began to scream for help. Jackie came and saved her, knocking over their bullying cousin and giving him a taste of his own medicine, knocking one of his adult molars out in the process.
Jackie carried her twin back home. Morris and Lindsay heard the whole story and saw the large tear that the beating had made on Sally’s back they immediately booted the Jerber’s out, although they still helped them financially. Sally started her first year at Hogwarts with her left arm in a sling thanks to her back, and it made life harder on her since she was left handed. Through the year, with her new ‘white’ tabby Frisky at her side she found out that Potions class was her best friend, owls liked to dive-bomb her hair if she didn’t brush it before coming to breakfast, and she loved having her nose in a textbook more than she liked going to class.
Her second year followed, a breeze of a time where she learned how to not get caught breaking rules when she needed to break them, and also got better at living without her sister. Frisky caused trouble, and would have ended up with kittens if it weren’t for the Care of Magical Creatures professor, who scared the living daylights out of Sally. At the end of the year Sally had to choose her extra classes and she thought long and hard before choosing Study of Ancient Ruins and Arithmancy.
Her third year started off with a bang as her sister forced her to try out for the open positions on the Hufflepuff team. Originally trying out for chaser, which she didn’t have much trouble with. She ended up as primary seeker and reserve chaser due to her speed and lightness on a broom. Her sister ended up as a Gryffindor Beater and the two promised not to hold grudges over what happened on the pitch. With the year almost over Sally and Jackie have both had their fair share of knocks and practical jokes, but they’re both still going strong.
