Kirilee had a free period but with how deserted the corridors were, it seemed like no one else in the entire school did. She had chosen a very comfortable spot in the middle of the staircase that was very much in the way to people who were walking down earlier. She didn’t mind really, actually she thought it was funny that people were getting so upset. A prefect even threatened to take points away to which Kirilee retorted that they could go ahead and try to explain that they took points away from her for sitting in the wrong spot. The prefect walked way, red in the face, and Kiri continued to sit and be annoying. But now, that it seemed there was not a soul around for miles, she was quite bored.
Blowing a very large bubble with her gum, she tried to keep it inflated for as long as she could. Somehow though, it popped and she had gum particles all over her face. She took out her wand and muttered a cleaning spell, feeling her face afterwards to make sure it was all off. I love magic sometimes… She said to herself smiling. It had been six years since she learned that she was a witch, but she was still getting used to all the wonderful things that magic could do. It just made life easier and it made her wonder how she lived without it before.
Now that her little burst of amusement was over, she was again, bored with nothing to do. Suddenly, she got an idea. She pulled her bag from the comfortable pillow spot it was occupying a second ago. Rummaging through it, she pulled out a Slinky, one of the most amusing muggle toys in existence, when they are around stairs. Running to the top of the stairs, she positioned the Slinky in just the perfect position, pushing on of the sides of the shiny silver spring over the edge and watching it walk the rest of the way down like it was magic. Every magical person would know that it wasn’t magic, just gravity, but to a muggle child, it was one of the closest things they had to magic in their lives.
As it finished and lay motionless at the bottom of the stairs, she thought about levitating it back up, but that would take the fun out of it. Running down to the bottom, she grabbed it and ran back up, positioning it and letting it fall again. There weren’t many muggleborns around that would understand why this was so fun, at least none that Kirilee knew.
