Character
Name: Kaliana Marie Justice
Alias: Lana, Kali
Sex: Female
Age: 29
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 150
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Brown
Bloodline: Pureblood
Profession: Headmistress
House: Former Slytherin
Markings: She has marks left from the fire that killed her parents when she was a baby, that form as angel wings covering her back. Also, to help her overcome a fear of fire she obtained after seeing a dragon breathe fire when she was young that reminded her of her parents' death, she has a dragon going up her left forearm. (Explained further in history)
Likes: Most magical creatures, more specifically unicorns and hippogriffs. Her most favorite thing in the world are coke floats from the muggle world.
Dislikes: Fire, dragons, trouble makers, and dancing.
Strengths: She excelled in muggle studies, flying, and was class favorite in transfiguration. She is said to be the youngest headmistress in Hogwarts' history, and is succeeding in continuing Dumbledore's teachings.
Weaknesses: Her potions professor was against her all through her years, so she really did not pay attention in that class. She is slow at wand dueling for the simple fact that she prefers hand to hand muggle type she has learned while living in their world fighting if circumstances allow.
Boggart: A fire breathing dragon is her boggart simply because she continues to have nightmares of the fire that took her parents.
Dementor: She hears her mother and fathers screams, as well as her grandparent's putting her down for being the only survivor of the fire.
Patronus: A Stallion, riding one is the closest thing she has found in the muggle world to soaring the skies on her broom as a quidditch seeker.
Animagus: Young white tiger, they are so cute when they are little, but grow to a force to be reckoned with.
Mirror of Erised: Wishes to be able to see both her parents living and be able to tell them how much she loves them.
Detailed Personality: Lana is extremely troubled because of things that has happened in her past, though she hides it rather well under the self assured and superior attitude she projects. She is very no-nonsense and can usually tell if most are pulling her chain, after all if someone pays close enough attention anyone can do it. Though she is has a very tough exterior she is also quite lenient when it comes to kids pulling what she sees as harmless pranks, simply because she was not given the chance at a "normal" childhood even by wizard standards.
Kali is wary of personal commitments and does her best, though it doesn't work all the time, to keep her work and home lives separate. The reason for this is because she had a "mishap" with the guy she was seeing at the time, right after they had graduated from Hogwarts. Because of this misfortune she abandoned magic all together and hit the streets of the muggle world. There she learned that no matter where you are, people take advantage. After being taken "advantage" of for about the fourth time she found a martial arts self defense class and joined, here she learned to better understand herself and how to project and aura of authority.
Family: None living
History:
Kali is 29 and has had what some would call a hard life, though she since she had just started school at Hogwarts when the whole "war" went down she figures she got off pretty light.
Her story really starts when she was a little younger than a year old, no one knows for sure cause her birth was kept quiet during the time of You-Know-Who, though she was told by her grandmother before she passed that it was when she was 8 months old. She believes she was born close to July 4th which is what she claims as her birth date. Her parents died in a house fire in the wizarding community, wizards dying in a simple house fire is unheard of, because of a spell her father attempted that went horribly wrong. Everyone was presumed dead until her grandparents started sifting through the debris and found her scarred but alive under a pile of rubble. How she survived couldn't be explained, being that she was in a room off of the origin point of the fire, until much later.
Throughout her supposed child hood she was treated as an outsider, even to what was left of her own family and especially her grandparents. After all, full wizards don't die because of simple house fires every day, and added to that fact she was brought up through a muggle lifestyle though she is pureblood. Her grandparents started, what has now become a family tradition, because they were enthralled with how the non-magical people lived and made even more so by their muggle studies throughout school. Her parents had started her out living that way, with electricity and home cooking, though she remembers little of it now, and after their deaths her grandparents kept it up. Fellow wizards never understood why this was, why anyone would choose to live such a horrid life of manual labor, though she sees it as it was taught to her, as a satisfying way of actually doing something.
Excitement filled Lana when she received the first Hogwarts owl telling her she was expected to attend the coming school year and included the list of requirements for first years. Her first time going through Diagon Alley with her grandparents was both terrifying and wonderful with all the sights and sounds she had not been audience to before. There they bought the very best of all the basic needs there, they were one of the oldest wealthy wizarding families still around, as well as a few extras then headed back home to wait for an owl carrying the date and time to be at King's Cross Station.
When she got to school she found she excelled at muggle studies, though that was no shock, as well as transfiguration where she instantly became the class favorite for turning the school's goody-two-shoes bully into a slug. She also enjoyed watching the quidditch matches and would day dream of one day being the one who caught the snitch thus winning the game and the house cup. Her most dreaded class was charms and potions because they were taught by the same professor that year and he seemed to have it out especially for her, she lost easily 150 house points for Slytherin in his class alone. That loss of points put Slytherin behind Gryffindor for the house cup that year.
Her second and third year just seemed to slip by due to the loss of both grandparents a year apart, that although they treated her with malice she loved dearly, and more so because she then had no living familial relations. Thankfully the parents of Juliene, one of the friends she had grown immensely close to in her first and second years agreed to allow her to live with them at the beginning of summer after her third year.
Kali's fourth year began with a bang, this being the first year she had been asked by a boy to dance with her at the beginning of year dance. She stayed in muggle studies, though she already knew as much as the books taught about how they lived. She added Care of magical creatures to her repertoire, and fell in love as soon as she sent eyes on her first hippogriff though her favorite had to be the unicorn she saw walking at the edge of the forest. Since her charms class was now taught by a different professor she began to understand it better, though her potions master was still the same old hag. She began training religiously to become the Slytherin seeker and was selected to replace the current one halfway through the year due to a terrible injury he had sustained. The year ended with Gryffindor winning the house cup.
Wow, fifth year, the first year that Hogwarts didn't hold classes because of the destruction that the war between Voldemort and Harry Potter caused. Classes were now held as distance learning, with professors sending massive amounts of homework to the students and expecting them to do it at the same pace as if they were in the classrooms. Needless to say, this was Kali's most stressful year school wise especially since this was the year she had to pass her O.W.L.s . No subject really struck as her favorite this year simply because of the course load she, and every other student was under, though she did learn a week after the year ended she passed amazingly. Rebuilding of Hogwarts was full swing by the time her sixth year begun, so classes were still held long distance. Neither year had any house cup winners for the simple fact that there were no houses.
Seventh year finally!! And Hogwarts was open again and accepting students, so Kali felt excitement much like she felt when first learning she was accepted. She wondered what the school looked like, what had changed, and if any of the professors were the same, and at the same time dreaded the change. As soon as she was on the train leaving King's Cross, this all abated, she was elated to see all of her friends that she had come to think of as family since beginning school at Hogwarts, why she was even looking forward to the" goody two shoes" jerks that inhabited the halls of the castle. Upon arriving the students learned that Hogwarts had even been selected to hold the Tri Wizard Tournament again, everyone started asking Kali if she was going to enter. She ended up not being able to due to a injury sustained during Quidditch practice, though she rooted for the champion like everyone else. Inviting her to the ball was Zade, one of the people who wasn't really a friend but she was close to. Through the school year they became closer and really thought they had something. After graduation that year, by the way Slytherin won the house cup, her and Zade broke apart because they had a slip up and she told him she thought she was pregnant and as a result he dumped her.
Because of the feeling of being abused, which it ended up she wasn't carrying a child, she left the magical community to begin anew in the muggle world where no one knew who she was. Since she had taken Alchemy, making dollars out of Galleons wasn't that hard, and she had plenty to go off of since her grandparents had left her the singularly wealthiest wizard in her community. Little did she know though, that being used wasn't just a wizarding thing, muggles also walked all over you if you gave them the chance. She went through guys who told her "I love you" so fast it would make her head spin, after the fourth one that took "advantage" of her she signed up for self defense classes and learned to respect her own self-worth. After she moved up to a brown belt, which didn't take her long as she was eager to learn, she decided to try to go back into the wizarding world for the first time in 5 years, upon which she learned that Hogwarts was looking for a new headmaster. Taking the quick road she went to the Minister and asked exactly what she needed to improve or prove to take the position, and after this (she was 28) at the time, she was elected headmistress for the first time for this current school term.
Roleplay Sample: Lana stood at the window of her office, contemplating where to start the task of selecting professors for the new year when in reality she wanted to be in the muggle world right now riding one of the wild horses she had come to love dearly. "Ah, it can be put off until tomorrow." She whispers to herself and makes her way down through the great hall and to the grounds outside. On her way through the East tower she visited the hospital wing where she saw a fourth year who's transfiguration spell had gone horribly wrong and was now half owl and who was slowly and painfully being turned back into himself. The east hall was deserted because most classes were still in session so Lana continued into the Great hall where the sky was laden with snow filled clouds just waiting to drop their cargo.
As she made her way out the castle doors she spied her destination, the forest where she hoped to catch another glimpse of the unicorn she had only seen once in her youth as a student there. Half way there she spotted a familiar figure in the shadows and did a double take. "No, not you, not now" she said to the figure as it was walking her way. A few feet in front of her stopped her high school sweet heart whom had broke her heart. Frozen with shock and dread she waited for the words he was yet to speak.
