Sarah comes from an old and large family descended from the Brother’s Grimm. The many branches of the family are covered with Aurors, Obliviators, Unspeakables, Hit Wizards, Misinformers… well if it’s a Government job dealing with covering up or defend against the things that go Bump in the night, Sarah’s has or had a relative in the position. The core of the family is European with their roots in Germany, but they have branches in America, Asia and Africa. The family hasn’t made much headway into South America. Her mother and Grandmother both worked for the US equivalent of the Auor’s department, though her mother worked as an undercover agent.
Sarah was born in Salem Massachusetts and prior to showing her magical abilities she attended public school with non-magical kids. When her magic manifested she transferred to the Salem Institute of Magic. She did well at Salem, rising to the top of her class in Defense against the Dark Arts. She’s also taken an interest in Wand lore, and was informally apprenticed in her father’s business. Only in the last two years has he trusted her to handle the materials and she is currently working on creating her first wand.
Her second year resulted in one very memorable incident. Some of the upper year students where making something they shouldn't have in the bathroom, and Sarah happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when it blew. She had to be in the hospital for two weeks as they worked to turn her skin and hair from latex back into flesh. Eventually they did manage to heal her, but she still has lingering side effects from the exposure.
While she attended a wizard’s school and her parents have magical jobs, the family lives a distinctly non-magical life. Other then the few small magics that get brought home to work on, or homework assignments, their house in Salem, and now their one in Goderic’s Hollow, could easily be mistaken for a muggle dwelling.
When the stirrings about new Chambers being found at Hogwarts reached American ears her mother’s higher-ups suggested that they put someone in place, unofficially, to keep an eye on things. Sarah’s not sure how things where arranged but her family ended up packed up and shipped across the Atlantic with Sarah enrolled as a Fifth year.
managed to win a spot onto the Slytherin team as a chaser.
Roleplay Sample:
Sarah looked up as her DADA teacher Mrs. Shreevman paused by her desk, looking down her long nose at her. "Ms Wasser, would you care to explain your answer to question number seven of the final?"
"Um, yes ma'am." Sarah said as she took her paper. "The question had been 'How do you counter the casting of combat magics?' I wrote 'Mace or tazer the fracker."
Mrs Shreevman pursed her lips. "I had wanted magical methods..."
"Then say that next time. Wizards are just as squishy as normal people, and most of them laugh off non-magical things." Sarah argued. "I've proved that in dueling class loads of times. Pift, most of the shield spells we learned here don't protect against anything but energies."
Before the argument could continue the last bell of the school year rang and the class room emptied in a stampede, Sarah in the front of the crowd. "Sour old bat. Good riddance." she grumbled as she waved to her friends as they all headed off to their various methods of transportation home. She came up short though on seeing her mother parked out front in the family car.
"Mom, what are you doing here? And what's with all the cardboard boxes?"
"Honey, get in we need to talk..."
