Ruby swore softly under her breath as she looked up and down the hall way. She could hear the school's assorted cocks striking 8:30 pm, and she really wanted to get back down to the dungeons so she could work on her report for Potions class.
But Grimkin had other ideas. The still virile Kneazle was on the prowl, and she really hoped that other cat owners where more responsible with their pets then she was. If not, she had a feeling she'd end up the not so proud 'grandmother' to a litter or two of half breed kittens.
"Grim, where are you? If you don't get your fuzzy butt out here right now and I might consider not shipping you back home in a cat crate that's a size to small!" the Slytherin girl hissed as she tugged her dress robe more tightly closed over the t-shirt and boxer shorts she wore. "There aren't any lady friends up here! Let's go back down and I'll let you play with Helen's ferrets. Girl's been 'borrowing' my bras without asking again..."
OOC: Who: Ruby, and to a lesser extent her familiar Grimkin Expecting: Open. What's up?: Just a run away cat.

Kaliana was on her way to a very important meeting with the other professors when she'd had to take a short detour. Or rather felt the need to, not that she really had any imperative business other than the professors lounge at that moment. It was on the third floor once the stair cases had rotated once that she saw what she felt like she was looking for scuttle back down the stair case to the second floor. Honestly it looked like a wire-haired tabby.....rat thing from the distance she'd seen it at and she was floored. Once she actually got down to the second floor landing, and saw the student looking for her... Grim.. she realized that it had probably been a pet of some sort.
Lana saw it dash behind one of the statues adorning the hallway and flicked a harmless levitation spell at it so that the girl could catch sight of it. As she came within feet of both girl, whom was undoubtedly Slytherin judging by her robes and was for sure missing some sort of class, the headmistress gave a stern warning, " Take your Grim back to the common room, and make sure he's put away. I don't need hundreds of little....kittens?.. running my school, then hurry back to class, I'll let your professor know you will be a tad late." She said as she waited for the girl to grab her kneazle and take him back to the dungeons then turned and started back up the stairs to the professors lounge to start her meeting.
OOC: Character: Headmistress Expecting: Ruby Plot: Caught and returned Kneazle, continuing to meeting.

Grim did NOT like the levitation spell at all, and became a hissing, spitting, spinning, and clawing ball of cranky as soon as his feet left the stone. Ruby grimaced and transfigured a handkerchief into a cat carrier which she carefully slipped around the angry near-cat.
"I have a free slot right now, Headmistress." Ruby replied as locked the carrier's door and grabbed it's handle. She was a touch miffed at the assumption that she'd miss class and couldn't stop herself from saying. "I may be a Slytherin, but I do not shrink my classes, Headmistress. You can check the attendance rolls, and my grades."

Kaliana's head was elsewhere when the Slytherin girl smarted off, or else there would have been deep repercussions. Though she did plan to do just what Ruby had suggested as soon as she returned to her own office, but not before a nice long night of sleep. She hadn't meant for any ill feelings, it was just that she was harried and in a rush to get to the meeting and set up before all the other professors started making appearances so her temper was quite short.
Checking her temper, the headmistress smiled smartly at the student and again warned, " Then please, get your pet back to the dormitories and kept contained. And it's not smart for a student to be walking around the halls in their night clothes, Ms. Wasser." She said, and with that did in fact return on her path up the stairwells.

Feeling very much like she'd just barely avoided getting scorched by a dragon Ruby nodded smartly. "Yes, ma'am. I'll see about putting an invisible fencing spell across the dorm door." she said holding the cat crate at arms length to avoid the ginsue paws that kept shooting out of the holes.
Rolling her eyes she flicked her wand at the Kneazle, and little rubber booties appeared on the reaching paws, sheathing the claws. "Maybe i'll just send him home, and have my parents send one of the ravens." she said more to herself then the headmistress as she started off her her dorms
OOC: Who: Ruby Expecting: kali, maybe, or no one What's up: Ruby's wondering why the other familiars are so well behaved and don't go wandering the school. Something I've wondered about myself

Tabby jogged up the stairs, a heavy backpack bouncing off of her spine. If she had been nearly anyone else it would have been painful, but she was Tabby and her pain threshold was much higher than a bouncing 57 pound backpack could make. Carthage stood at the bottom of the stairs, woofing forlornly. He was too old to climb the stairs easily anymore.
“Oh come ON Carthage…” She sighed, she should know better. The dog was nearly 13 years old, and for a large dog that was old. She sighed and pulled her wand out of its holster, hidden up her sleeve. With a quick swish and flicker she levitated Carthage. The dog whined, but didn’t struggle as he was brought up the stairs and set gently at her side by magic. “Let’s go then buddy.” She started off again, and then stopped.
“Well howdy. Is that a pure bred kneazle? He’s quite a handsome fellow isn’t he? But a bit on the grouchy side if his noise making is anything to go by. Are you planning on breeding him?” She had some time, she’d rather enjoy herself in that time. Besides, kneazles were harder for her to keep. They didn’t get along with her canine companions at all, and Tabby rather disliked the smell she always caught after using certain charms to clean blood out of the rugs and tapestries in her room. She recognized the girl, one of her sixth year Slytherin students, now what was her name again?

"Evening Professor Tabby." Ruby said with a grin for what had to be one of her favorite teachers. Sure Tabby was a dog person and she was a cat person, but a passion for critters knew no species boundaries.
"He is pure bred, yes. My family's been raising them and keeping them as familiars for ages. There are two things he hates that just happened to him; Levitation and being caged up. Thankfully neither of those issues have been passed to litters he's sired. We figured we'd see what his sons genes add to the breeding pool this season, so Grim came to school with me." She tapped the carrier with her wand, earning a amber eyed glower from within. "But if he keeps running off, I will send him home. Got that buster?"

“Oh, a breeder. Wonderful. I’m sure his offspring are lovely. If you want him to stay in place though there’s a spell that will temporarily take the, ah… bullets out of his gun.” She made the standard shooting someone with her hand and chuckled. “I use it on my pets to avoid babies when I can’t take care of them. I don’t usually teach it to students since they can misuse it, but… something tells me you won’t.” The slightly insane glint in her eyes foretold what would happen if Ruby were to try and misuse the gift Tabby was giving her. Namely that she would be going back to her home in an urn, most likely along with her pet. Tabby was easygoing most of the time, but she could be horrifying when she was angry. It was not a side most students saw.
“Anyways,” her eyes were back to their smiley sea green selves, “it’s a harmless spell and most animals don’t even realize what’s happened. If you’re worried though, you can use a basic sleeping draught before you cast it. Come to my office after today’s lessons and I can teach it to you.” Tabby was well aware she was running out of time, and she wanted to get Carthage away from the angry ball of fur in the cat crate before it sliced his nose. Her brave protector was also a bit of an idiot, thinking almost every creature smaller than himself was either friend or food.

"Thank you ma'am." Ruby replied with a nod, "Usually he does have such a spell on him, but it wore off, and I don't know it. I'd appreciate it if you would teach it to me." in the back of her mind she was wondering how much trouble she'd really get into if she used the spell on some of the older guys in her house that hit on any girl with a pulse so long as she looked good on their arm.
When Grim let out another growl Ruby shifted and started back down the hall again. "I'll see you at class professor. Best get him back to my room and secured. Bye."

“No problems kiddo. See ya later.” Tabby watched her start off for her room before she turned and loped toward her office. Carthage followed, whining softly at her as he did. Tabby nodded, she knew what she was doing. Besides, when she taught Ruby the spell she’d go over what the school and ministry would require happen to her if she misused the spell. Whatever they had would look like candy and cupcakes and frosting in comparison to what Tabby would do. There were certainly benefits to being her most days.
“Okay Carthage, up you get.” She lifted the three hundred pound dog easily and carried him up the short flight of stairs from her classroom to her office, and then she set him down and undid the ‘lock-and-hide’ spell she used on the door to her personal room. The black hound pushed past her and went to his basket to lie down. Firefly bounded up to her, nudging her with his velvety muzzle. She laughed and pet him, setting her backpack down and quickly routing through it so that it would weigh less for her afternoon classes.
“This year might be fun after all.” She mused, standing up and turning to head out again for her next class.
