Tabby marched up the stairs to the owlery, blood already decorating her robes and the shirt underneath them. While the thestrals knew not to attack owls, apparently nobody had thought to teach the hippogriffs. Tabby groaned softly, she hated having so much blood on her, especially since it brought back memories of the night her father died. She’d heard the ruckus as she was packing up from her last class of the day and had arrived in time to prevent the hippogriff from tearing the leg off of an owl that had a package that it was desperately trying not to drop with its uncaptured leg. A quick stunning spell had forced the hippogriff to let go of the owl which had flapped off, bleeding badly, for the owlery tower. After making sure the hippogriff wouldn’t go anywhere soon she’d taken off at a solid run for the owlery. Birds didn’t have as much blood to lose as mammals of similar size and she’d rather not tell some poor student that their pet was dead.
She shoved the door inward and almost slipped on the slimy deposits on the floor, wetter than usual with dark blood. The owl was on a perch high up, too high for her to reach. Its leg was half severed and it was fighting not to fall off. She placed it as being a member of the Tyto genus, probably a masked owl or a sooty owl of some sort by its darker face. She growled to herself and then began to climb up the perches and nesting hollows in the wall. Several owls objected to her invasion of their space and pecked or slashed at her. She ignored it to grab the injured owl. She let herself fall, preventing injuries with a quick spell that allowed her to land on her feet instead of her spine.
“Let’s take a look at you then, shall we?” she whispered to the frightened bird. Sharp keratin closed on her wrist, drawing blood and pinching nerves, but Tabby ignored it as she gently maneuvered the avian. Several tendons had been severed, along with cut and torn muscles. None of the major arteries were opened and the bone was still in one piece. She took off her robes and wrapped the bird up in them, preventing it from injuring itself or her any further. She turned and began to pad down the stairs. She’d need Kali’s help to find the owner and get permission to keep the owl for healing as extensive as it would need.
OOC// Character: Tabby Plot: Tabby starts to help an injured owl. Expecting: Kali and open Author Notes: I don't care who the owl belongs to, it could even be a ministry owl or something for all I care.

Lana started out of her office and stopped dead in her tracks as she saw Tabby rushing past covered in blood.. She hadn't seen where the blood had actually come from so she started dashing after her friend, fearing that she'd had another run in with the sphinicore or the uni colt had some how injured her without having a horn. Though with the things long legs that seemed plausible.
When Tabby by-passed the hospital wing Lana voiced her thoughts that she should be looked at which was readily ignored, and was even more floored when Tabby had stepped into the owlery and started climbing up the perches... Had the sphinxicore gotten to her and some how poisoned her, or what was going on. Afraid she'd scare the owls into a frenzy as well as knock Tabby off kilter if she'd opened her mouth, Lana stood there with a worried frown festooning her face as she waited.. A harried gasp escaped her lips as her friend came catapulting down from high up, and didn't draw breath until she saw that for some reason it was on purpose.
She opened her mouth to speak when Tabby started down the stairs, having not seen her and she witnessed a frightened and obviously injured owl clamping it's very mad beak around Tabby's finger. Her mind automatically changed gears as she recognized the owl as one of the ones that the Ministry sent with letters to her office. " What happened?! I'll send another owl to the ministry letting them know theirs is being healed and will return as soon as you deem it able." she flicked a piece of parchment and magic quill from her robes and had the note strapped to one of her own owls before Tabby could say anything in response. OOC: Character: Kali Plot: Lana recognizes the owl as a ministry owl after following Tabby to the owlery in a panic. Expecting: Tabby

Tabby nodded her thanks as she registered that Kali was right behind her. She was feeling slightly light headed from the nerve pressure in her wrist and the fact that she was essentially drenched in blood. “Apparently nobody thought to teach the hippogriffs not to attack owls… I guess they just usually don’t on their own. I was packing up from a lesson when I heard one fighting with this fellow. I put an end to it but he took off before I could grab him to check on his leg. Th’ … The hippogriff is on the ground… stunned… I… wow since when do you where sparkly makeup?” Tabby had started to sway while she spoke. As soon as the last word was out of her mouth her knees gave up and she went boneless, dropping to the floor with a painful crack of her skull on the rock. She was still conscious; her body just gave up on listening to her brain. She giggled in a very uncharacteristic manner from the floor.
"Hey, hey Kali! I can hear magenta!” Okay, so she wasn’t infallible. That and she was a little crazy at the immediate moment. If the damned owl would just let go of her wrist she’d be fine, from the standpoint of she’d be able to get up. The high she was getting from the blood was an entirely different issue.
OOC// Character: Tabby Plot: Tabby gets high off of blood and dizzy off of pain Expecting: Kali and open Author Notes: I don't know if 'high' is quite the right word, but it fits the situation. Tabby and blood have interesting and unpredictable results on a normal day.

Lana had been walking behind Tabby as she took the bird to care for it, noticing the thing still had Tabby's wrist in its mouth and that she was acting a little off. Not completely putting two and two together she continued to walk with the Magical Creatures instructor/care giver with a frown creasing her brow. As Tabby began to make less and less sense it finally dawned on her what was wrong and she was just fixing to motion for her to stop when her knees began to buckle.
Blood drained from her face as her reaction wasn't fast enough to save Tabby any further pain by playing hack-y-sack with her head against the stone floor. She let out a half scream as the crack of skull against stone echoed off of the walls that brought out a professor from their office and she asked them to help her remove the owl, that hadn't let go even from the fall, from Tabby's wrist and told them to take the bird to the gamekeeper while she rushed her friend and professor to the hospital wing drifting in and out of consciousness on the way there. "I bet you hear all sorts of interesting stuff.. Just keep talking.." She commanded Tabby.. She knew if the lady lost consciousness and drifted off it was very dangerous. She leaned most of Tabby's weight against her with the help of a slight levitation spell and rushed as fast as she could toward the first floor and the help her friend required, not worrying about any blood or anything else she'd gathered on her robes from the trek.
OOC: Character: Kali Plot: Lana is trying to get Tabby to the hospital wing and the bird to Tony asap Expecting: Tabby/Open

With the owl no longer pressing what amounted to a natural knife into the nerves of her wrist Tabby started to clear her head. Only to find what amounted to excruciating pain in several parts of her skull, though none of it matched a broken bone, so she just figured it might be hat day for her soon. She leaned on Kali and let herself be half carried and half dragged toward the hospital wing. She giggled again as she looked around.
“H-hey Kali, Hey? Ha-have you ever noticed how PRETTY the stones in the wall are? I mean just lookit ‘em… they’re so… they’re so… oh Merlin… pummedown pummedown!” She threw up with no more warning than a quickly slurred request to be put down. Wretching and gagging as her stomach rejected everything she’d eaten in the past 24 hours that hadn’t already gone through. Finally all that came up was a blood flecked mixture of bile and foam.
“My mouth hurts… I didn’t even know that was possible.” the force of wretching had brought her brain to the forefront. A blessing in some ways, since that meant she could support her own weight with a little help, but also a curse as it made her fully aware of every del unit of pain in her body.
OOC// Character: Tabby Plot: Tabby proves her mortality I guess... and also shows off what she ate for lunch. Expecting: Kali and open Author Notes: and yes, a del unit is how you measure pain. Childbirth is supposed to be up to 57 del units of pain (debatably... some research is higher and some is lower.)

Lana and Tabby were steadily making their way to the hospital wing, Tabby more leaning on Lana than actually walking herself. She heard Tabby's slurred request and stopped...As Tabby emptied the contents of her stomach over the stone, Lana grabbed her hair to pull it out of her face and offered as much support as the woman would take. After it seemed she was done, Lana picked her back up and answered the question Tabby had uttered just before she'd had to stop.
"Yes, the stones in the Castle are indeed beautiful in their own right. And, yes, emptying your stomach of the past 24 hours can do that to you." She said in a rather strained voice, she was worried how had Tabby's head had hit.. She knew it probably wasn't a fractured skull but more than likely was a very serious concussion. Trying to keep Tabby awake and talking Lana asked, "So, the hip that did that to the poor owl? What did you say happened to it?" Lana saw they were close to the wing, and let a relieved breath escape.. Now if only the nurse was there and not out treating some dunderheaded student that had walked into the Forest to find the monster everyone was whispering about, she prayed someone would be there.
OOC: Chara: Kali Expecting: Tabby / nurse /open Plot: Lana's almost got her to the hospital wing..

“I! …. Am fine now… twenty-five percent certain!” She declared with a theatrical style of dramatics. Then again, as long as she wasn’t eating stone corridor then she considered herself to be temporarily fine. She shook herself off like a dog, wishing she had a water bottle to rinse the after flavor of tomatoes and bile from her mouth. Instead she settled for rubbing over most of the inside of her mouth with her tongue. The flavor was annoying, but unlike some people it wasn’t enough to bring another round of expulsion from her.
“Mmmm…. Yeah, the hippogriff did. I think he was trying to pull it down for a better go at it. I’m worried it’s going to lose the leg, most of the tendons in the leg and about 60% of the muscles were torn and broken. It can be mended if gotten to quickly enough, but it still takes a lot of recovery. Still, there’s a worse issue with blood-loss. Avians don’t have as much blood as mammals, and they don’t recover it anywhere near as quickly. I was more worried when I thought it was a student’s pet though… I honestly doubt the ministry cares about a messenger owl. They barely care about people it seems.” Okay, so she wasn’t quite on top of things, but she was moving forward under about half of her own manpower, with some help from Kaliana. For once she didn’t complain as she felt the general feelings of pain and fear wash over her as they neared the hospital wing.
OOC// Character: Tabby Plot: Derpderpderp Expecting: Kali and open Author Notes: I just realized... but Tabby is kind of an empath... Huh... I guess you DO learn something every day.

Lana ignored Tabby's insistence that she was fine and could make it wherever she would rather go besides the hospital wing by herself. Just to show her exactly how much of the woman's weight she was carrying she removed most of the support she was offering only to watch the woman stumble. She reached back to give the lost support and continued half dragging Tabby into the hospital wing and through the door.
She knew Tabby was worried about the avian and responded in kind to her worries. " Don't worry about the owl too much, I've taken steps to ensure it'll be taken care of. It's probably made its way into Tony's care until at the least you are able to stand on your own two feet without looking like you are totally sloshed. I will even send an owl to ask how the bird is if you'd like while we're waiting for you to be evaluated." She said. Though she was also worried about the lasting effects to the owl, she was more worried that Tabby had sustained brain damage from the concussion she knew was more likely than not going to get worse before it got better.
They made it to the "nurses station" in the hospital wing and Lana barked orders for one of the best nurses on staff to follow her and Tabby into a waiting room and when they didn't move fast enough she screamed that she'd have their head. She finally got Tabby seated on one of the beds and went back to the door to scream at the nurses some more because noone had instantly showed at the door.
OOC: Who: Lana Expecting: Tabby/Open What: Getting irate with the nurses for not hurrying their arses up.

Tabby dumped herself onto a bed and leaned over, head between her knees. Perhaps one of the less comfortable positions she could be in, but it did help with the throbbing in her head. She registered Kali’s voice and the general noise of the yelling and conversation that occurred, but didn’t think on it too much. When the feeling of being spun around like a top finally ceased she looked up at Kali, and instantly wished she hadn’t. Two or three… or however many versions of her friend and boss were dancing around in front of her face, blurring and sharpening oddly. She dropped her head back to between her knees.
“Kali, you’re my best friend but more than one of you is way too many of you.” She mumbled from her current position. Muscles in her back twitched at every little noise now, but she was used to the feeling of noises being bothersome. She dealt with that daily; it just wasn’t usually this intense. While she waited she took stock of the general damage. Her back was sore; it was definitely time to go into St. Mungo’s again. Her wrist hurt where the owl had grabbed hold of it; no lasting damage there. Her skull throbbed on the inside and the outside; an ice pack, a headache draft and a nap and that would be fine. Her brain itself felt numb and slow, like it was resting in honey instead of cerebral fluids; that was trouble. She felt icy cold hands on her shoulders and was aware that someone was trying to push/pull her into a sitting position. She moved fluidly, raising her head and straightening her back, trying to meet the many dancing eyes she saw, although figuring out which set to look at wasn’t an easy task.
OOC// Character: Tabby Plot: concussions yay! and yes, Tabby has a concussion and I am basing the vision part off of a concussion I got myself by in my sophomore year of high school... (some idiot flipped my desk over with me in it... back of head meet the desk behind you and the concrete floor below.) Expecting: Kali and open Author Notes: Sorry this took so darn long.

As soon as she helped Tabby into a bed she noticed the nurses still hadn't showed up, looking at her friend and fellow professor noting that she'd placed her head between her knees she drug a waste basket to within arms reach and marched to the door. Screaming that if a nurse wasn't there in five seconds she was going to have everyone's jobs, if not their heads, on a silver platter to hand to the head of St. Mungo's, Kaliana returned back to Tabby's bedside to await the slow-assed nurses.
Kaliana sat next to her friend on the bed as her already pale face became transparent as she'd looked up. " I'm sorry.. I can't help that you see more than one of me at the moment sweetie. Though I can get something to help." her voice had been pushed quiet and soft with worry for her friend. With that Kaliana got up, walked out the door and to the nurse's station. "Seeing as my threats have not been heeded, give me a headache draft, and something to reduce the swelling or at least stop it. Then report to St. Mungo's for firing." she snapped at the cowering nurse, not older than twenty she expected.
Returning to the room and Tabby with bottles of elixirs Kaliana softly put them on the table at the foot of the bed her friend had now, it seemed, passed out on. Reacting on instinct, Kaliana waved her wand producing a cool towel as she lifted Tabby's shoulders off the bed, attempting to wake her. "Girl.. I know you want to sleep, and if you let me give you these medicines, I'll let you do just that." she requested as she pulled her up to take a drink from the cup Kaliana now held.

Tabby pulled a face at the smell of medicine in the cup under her nose. She sighed and raised one hand enough to tip the glass so that she wouldn’t hurt herself trying to drink from the glass. She swallowed, ignoring the fact that she was fairly certain mud created from horse urine tasted better. She coughed as she finished off the glass, pulling a face that would have scared a boggart.
“Ugggh… and I thought piss tasted bad.” She chuckled a little as the throbbing in her head started to subside. “I don’t want to sleep and I shouldn’t anyways. Going to sleep with a concussion leads to coma’s fairly often… … I just have to go and grade papers… … I think tomorrow’s classes are going to be canceled… unless you can get someone to sub for me.” She shifted her position to something a little more comfortable and swiped her tongue over the inside of her mouth again. She really needed to brush her teeth, and a nice bubbly mouthwash wouldn’t go amiss either. She sighed, rubbing her head. At least nothing was broken, although she was already starting to develop a large knot on her skull, under her hair.
“Can you help me go check on the owl? Tough little bastard that he is I’m still worried about him… pardon, her” The feeling of the hospital wing was under her skin now.

Kaliana braced against Tabby to keep her up right as her friend drank the mixture of potions she'd poured into the cup. She knew it had to have tasted just delightful and the look that Tabby gave confirmed her suspicions. Lana felt she should apologize for the disgusting but much needed mixture she'd just forced her friend to drink.
" I'm sorry girl, but all this will help. If you really want to go see the owl I can have Tony bring it to the castle. As for your lessons, either I or Tony will stand in for the next couple." she soothed as Tabby made to get out of the bed. "How about I help you to your office, or chambers, send a message to Tony and have him bring the owl? Then I shall sit with you while you grade? That way you can wash what I imagine tasted like the underside of a bus from your mouth." she smiled as she said it, trying to soften the blow of Lana telling her friend how it was going to be.
She also knew Tabby hated being in a hospital bed or anywhere near the wing for that matter. This way Lana could watch over her friend and check on the ornery owl herself. If there was any one thing she hated more than things attacking her students and co-workers was an animal being harmed either by human hands or by another creature.
Helping Tabby to a sitting position she placed her hand in the middle of her friend's back to help stabilize her if needed and suggested they start leave. "Ya think you can make it?" Lana inquired as she put her feet on the floor to push up.

“I regret to inform you that I have never tasted the underside of a bus… however I have tasted horse pee, and it tasted better than this did. And oh joy, to the office and chambers of being jumped on by dogs, cats, unicorn foals, rats, and god only knows what else is living in there these days… … just drag me out on the lawn and I’ll sleep there. It’ll be easier on my head and my back… assuming the barrier holds…” She hauled herself upright, swaying for a moment before finding her balance.
“Ya know Kali, I don’t think you had to be so hard on them.” she commented as she walked by, keeping her feet but doing a damned fine impression of a drunken sailor. “I mean they’re not much more than kids, and I’m fine now…” She laughed a bit, shrugging and giving a little shudder. “Let the record show that I officially hate my job as of tonight… not that I’m quitting or anything.” She sighed and continued staggering back and forth down the hall. Carthage was waiting near the stairs, wagging his tail and drooling liberally on the floor as he usually did, Tabby smiled at the giant black dog.

" I rather think that is a good thing on your part. I haven't had the experience myself either but I could imagine for all they drive through how it could taste. You're right.. I forgot about the animals. Do you feel up to making my tower? I have a spare room you could use for a few days if you'd like.. It's in the lower floors so you'll have privacy." she suggested in place of the lawns.
As Tabby righted herself and gained her balance half-assed Lana stood up and prepared to brace against the woman if she needed it though at the present she didn't touch. She knew how much pride her friend had and that she hated appearing weak at any point. Without seeming too worried, or like she was offering help to the head-strong woman slightly leading her down the hallway Lana answered. "I mightnt not have but they need to get the lead out of their ass.. What would have happened if you'd been arterial bleeding instead of on the verge of passing in to a coma? I'm sure there will be other points in time where you say the same thing. I didn't in any way expect you to leave, I hope you shall be here for a very long while." Lana offered to her friend. They'd reached the branch off to the headmistress's chambers so Lana stopped, waiting for Tabby to tell her which way she preferred to go.
