Lana turned around just to come face to face with Zadiken, barking orders at other professors to handle the crowd that had gathered.. Then she noticed the nurses heading down from the castle.. Why hadn't I thought of that? She thought to herself.. She was more impulsive when it came to her students than with anything else and hadn't thought about what she might find on the way to help, or what she'd find when she got there. Silently she reminded herself to thank Zadiken for hailing the nurses down to them instead of wasting precious time trying to haul the wounded child up to the Hospital wing.
In the same breath she cursed herself again for being so impulsive and not thinking of that first... Sure she'd needed to make sure that the sphinxicore had gone back into the forest and wasn't still a danger to anyone on the grounds. She looked at all the hoh's and told them in no uncertain terms to take their houses back to their common rooms at that point to reduce the amount of stuff she had to deal with at once.. And no student had any business seeing one of their own laying face down in the grass nearly mauled to death. If the wounds healed most of the way, they'd still leave nasty scars that the child would have to endure the effects of for the rest of his life.
This fact cut her deep.. She hadn't put enough precautions in place... She hadn't done enough, the beast had still gotten through. A silent tear ran down her face as she gathered a steadying breath and answered Zadiken's question.
"Yes the sphinx are riddlers. The like to toy with their food before they eat it.. I just don't get why anyone hasn't been killed yet. Though the Manticore part has a taste for human flesh. Maybe it is trying to lure someone into the forest for that reason." She said more calmly than she felt.
She looked at Zadiken and voiced what she figured he felt.. "We have to get rid of the thing... NOW. No more waiting.. You, me, Tabby... and whoever else gathers tonight at the edge of the forest."

Zadiken nodded to his lover and kissed her cheek. "I'll round up everyone, and get this sword inlaid with silver so we can take this thing ou- YOU THREE, AWAY FROM THE FOREST!' he suddenly turned and shouted at three students trying to make their way to the forest in the confusion. they froze and dashed back to the castle, acting as though Zadiken himself had lit- Wait. They all ran because there were three fiery orbs chasing them to the castle. A smug look on Zadiken's face, he waved a hand and called off the flames, a ring on his finger subsiding in glow. He sighed and looked at Kali, gripping her hand gently and nodding, giving a small smile.
"Let's go." he said, heading towards the castle in haste.
